I’d like to point out that this translation is…not the greatest, so maybe he thought “shake” – he’s clueless about kids obviously, it wouldn’t be unusual for him to wonder if he is supposed to be stern in this situation, with a child crying. If she was throwing a tantrum sure (the stern part, I mean, shaking is never good). On the other hand, shake could also be a mistranslation of rock, which would completely change the vibe of that sentence. It could be neither of those things. -shrug- I do find it amazing all the folks commenting that must have never made any mistakes in their lives so they can sit on their high horses and judge that someone is beyond redemption. Especially with the limited amount of information given so far. Must be nice to be so perfect that you don’t need, or have any, empathy.
