Have mercy on me Author-nim!! I’m a vegetarian and would like to stay that way so stop making all that meat look so tasty… Ugh

I love how they’ve explained why she was isekaied in that place and it all makes sense

That or in the north where not much grows, the people there need a diet of mostly meat and fish. If you look up produce prices in Northern Canada, you’ll see what I mean. All that stuff has to be imported.
But also, vegetables as we know them only got to that state through generations of human cultivation. If they’re so few, the selective breeding which made domestic carrots so wonderful would be pretty much unfeasible. Seriously, the ancestors of all our food was found growing in the wild. We chose to grow more of the most delicious strains and tada! Not something that could happen if crops were overwhelmingly difficult to grow.
Also, agriculture is a big thing on how we got such stationary civilizations in the first place. Before meat became so common here, and a money based society developed, what were the peasants eating? You can’t tell me that every household had animals. Not enough that eating them (killing them) would be sustainable. There are only so many meals you can get out of one cow, and only so many cows you can have on a small piece of land. Factor in predation and disease and there’s no way every serf family can feed themselves on their own livestock.

[whispers] hey author, what do the livestock animals eat??
no but seriously meat-heavy diets do not happen in places with abundant water. desert areas where the only vegetation that grows is inedible to humans but perfect edible to cattle with four stomach is the only type of biome that would support a meat-centric diet like this. there wouldn’t be a lush forest in such a place unless all the water and plants are ordinarily contaminated with poison rainfall and the only way to raise edible fruit/veg is to have a greenhouse with filtration systems that cost a fortune.

Oh also, you can still cook tough/cheap cuts of meat in ways to make them edible and yummy. Lots of stews evolved to make tough meat edible. Also, meat that’s gone bad could be disguised with how it was cooked. OH and meat is actually less expensive than veggies in parts of the world where there is less water. Animals can eat tough plants that people can’t digest and then people eat the animals. So yeah. This chapter is realistic.

Actually depending on the type of animal and fruits and veggies, this is accurate. Deer was for nobility in England, sure, but chicken, boar, etc were fine for commoners. Especially in winter when you had to thin the herd. Less animals to feed in the winter and more meat for the family to eat. Root veggies were simple and fine for commoners, but anything imported was too expensive for anyone but a noble. Peppers and tomatoes we think of as common but the were New World (the Americans) foods and luxury items.

lol well this is backwards…veggies are for nobles and meat is for commoners???
Sicarius
>meat commoner’s food
>Vegetables noble food
Come on, author. that’s stupid and you know it
