I like that, a protagonist with tattoos. It’s so rare in manhwas to see tattooed women and tattoo artists. It’s more seen on men. And when a woman has it, it’s generally because they are either sex slaves or attackers, murderers. Also in manhwas, when a woman is marked by tattoos she will do anything to make it invisible. This is because certain Asian cultures advocate a physical appearance without spots or marks.

1. symbolize contracts between , human, demons, mages etc( like in kuroshitsuji, beelzebub, fate stay night, jujustu kaisen’s sukuna’s face tattoo appearing on itadori’s face)
2. magic circles for enchanting magic spells, attacks etc. (Fullmetal alchemist transmutation circle, Taboo-Tatto’s Seigi, Soul Eater’s Medusa)
3. identification of a group/ person (like in fairytail, 7 deadly sins, homonculus tattoo in FMA, Soul Eater’s Black Star, beach’s renji’s tribal tattoos, tower of god’s Urek Mazino tattoo)
4. Sealing a demon, a powerful mage etc. (Vampire knight’ Zero Kiryu, Naruto’s and Neji’s seal tattoo , )
5. Or to just freely express theirselves (tokyo ghoul’s uta, one piece characters, the way of the house husband, dgrayman)
Give MC back her tattoos! Please! Also, about tattoos == slaves, that’s not true for, like, a majority of places and would depend on both the location and type of tattoo. Tattoos have been used for countless generations in places as an expression of art and culture. If I were her I’d be more worried about being suspected of criminal or cult ties or that the tattoos have magical / demonic significance.
