Raymond is regretting now cuz she changed (and is no longer acting like a creepy stalker) and it’s making him remember their childhood, when she wasn’t that creepy.
He backed off from her cuz of that trauma, so it’s his fault too that they grew apart, but regardless of that – he said no to her plenty of times, and she kept on clinging to him, getting creepier and creepier. That’s not acceptable behaviour 😉
