* SPOILER (book spoiler) * Give Carcel some grace. I won’t spoil too much but I will say in every lifetime Carcel only loved Ines. The situation is very Finnick Odair.
Ines is also not the most reliable narrator when it comes to her own beauty. Yes, she dress rather plain, but Carcel never found her ugly. Ines thinks she is so smart, but she misjudges people a lot. She only seemed “unattractive” when she isolated herself because she was isolating herself. And, still, she was always attractive to Carcel.

I read the novel after reading the first chapter of the WEBTOON, and I will say everything is so much grander in the WEBTOON than my imagination. And I guess everything looked a lot more Spanish in my mind… like I thought Barcelona not Versailles. I guess that’s the genre though.
