However, the beast falls in love with the woman who saves him, becomes the emperor with her by his side, and punishes the villainess to eternal restraints. Following the story, I took over the villainess’ body at the time when she was halfway through taming the male lead. ……What should I do? First, let’s undo the brainwashing bit by bit. OK, so I’m up to chapter like 107, so I’m updating my review. No manhwa adaptation has made me as angry as this one has. I keep reading, like watching a trainwreck, hoping that maybe just maybe they can somehow stir it back to the original story but no. At this point, The story is COMPLETELY unrecognizable. The plot isn’t even the same.
Besides that, they’ve changed:
The FL’s identity, background, and whole purpose for being in that world
Magnus’ personality
The identities of her parents
The identity of the demon realm which is now is I guess just misunderstood prejudice?! rather than 13 realms ruled by 13 kings (her father being the 12th) with their own values and culture (that includes it’s just fine to treat a human as a pet because demons look down on humans)
The loss of focus on Yuna and Magnus’ relationship that was so prevalent in the original story, as they sought to understand each other, make sense of the past from each other’s perspectives, and process through all of it. Now that’s all gone I guess, and it’s disappointing because it had some unique aspects from other stories (including him calling her Yuna, her real name, if that hints at part of it).
At this point, I think the only thing they’ve kept the same are the names. And of course ending up with each other (I’m pretty sure that’s not a spoiler), but they no longer have much personality or depth of character at all. So sad, because the original story was so great. If you want to know what the original story was like, read the first season of this, which is actually a pretty close adaptation, and if you liked it, try to find the original novel to read the rest. Even if the only one you can find has to be translated in the most horrible MTL., it will still be better than reading this. On the other hand, if you didn’t like the first season because it was too dark, then you might like from the second season on. But just know that it’s a generic romcom that has nothing in common with the original story.

This story has deviated from the original story so much (basically from Season 2 on) that it feels like it’s not even the same story. That said, if you read and liked the novel, and can think of this as an alternate timeline, you can enjoy it more. Still wish I could have seen the original story made a manhwa though…

It was interesting up to chapter 13. . . afterwards author doesn’t seem to know how to write/continue FL and ML relationship so its all over the place and dragging, imo.

Story is getting more and more interesting! TL is a mess sometimes, and makes it hard to understand what’s going on (but it’s not braindamage-inducing TL, 6-8/10), you can still grasp the situation and enjoy it. The story isn’t that dark, at least for now, it’s quite compatible with the faint-hearted like me. I like it quite a lot so far

I’ve caught up to chapter 50 and there’s a lot of cute moments but also a lot of dark moments. The novel is probably a lot darker so I’m glad it’s a lot tamer and cute

I feel like this is actually a tamer version of the novel. The story is definitely dark but I love the art and the complex plot, the story is nuanced and interesting, and the characters are so interesting.
