Have you not read the notes on the previous chapters? TL states there the titles are reversed to their genders. the empress is emperor because they’re doing emperor duties. The supposed emperor is empress is because they’re doing empress duties. The current emperor is keeping its title because of that + she’s the one who rose to the throne.
