I still remember punching the one who bullied me when I was in mid school. Yeah,after I hit him he suddenly became soft and treat me well. Now he sent a friend request in FB but I did not respond, instead I deleted him lol.
Also bullies bully who they perceive as weak if you act strong and beat them up worse why would they screw with you. Her logic of keeping your head down in a bullying situation allows a kid to be bullied continually. You need to make them fear you because bullies are only strong against the weak they are weak against the strong. Her logic I could see in an abusive situations with adults not bratty kids.

Spent my middle school years with an “eye for an eye” mentality towards bullying. If I got shoved I’d shove them back. They ended up cornering me between classes and hanging up on me 3-5 on one. And I was the tallest in my school. (topped out at 6ft).
Not reacting also doesn’t work. Telling adults obviously doesn’t work. It’s not about you or what you do. It’s all on them
sooo in the novel, ellie bullies damien in the orphanage and then gets kicked out and dies… so in other words, she’s only a “villain” in damien’s life for like what? a few months? a year or two at most? doesn’t sound like much of a “number-one villainess” to me lmfaooo
