Did a rereading and it seems like her guardians put out a rumor that she is ugly so that no one would take her away. Coz when you’re married those dumbass guardians whoever they are don’t have a say to you . I think this FL hasn’t had her debutante yet if we piece this info together and her captors has her reigns and abusing her. I think it was her desperate attempt to be kidnapped by the Ml although he didn’t remember.
From what I understand the girls is desperate to leave her guardianship, it seems the woman in the flashback who the Ml can’t remember might be her step mother or aunt or anyone who wants her title and wealth. Due to being drunk and we don’t know why he is involve here he ended up taking the FL (I call her this becoz the Mc is clearly the Ml this is his PoV). In the first chapter it was clear the Ml has a title but unwealthy, I think he was in a party to hit a wealthy girl that was really his intention. But the kidnapping its too soon to tell since he was drunk during the flashback. Ml started attacking the Fl right now since she gave him her consent. Let’s see what happens next.
SOo basically at first he thought she is a nun, so even if he was being tempted he tried so hard not to because he will be married to the FL (henriette).
After realizing that she actually is Henriette, he was so relieved that the woman he find so attractive who is trying to pin on him is actually his to-be-wife, he has no more reason to say no.
