it’s weird that they wouldn’t want to cultivate the talent she has when she’s made it clear she just wants to use it to support her brother, the “heir.” they lose nothing from her learning more unless they simply think the son is so incompetent that her doing even a little more than she is now will outshine him
also, isn’t it ultimately up to the head of each family to choose the heir? dunno how they plan to change his mind when he’s like this. effort doesn’t seem to matter to him, only tradition
