This mc is the greedy and selfish, he doesn’t feel remorse/guilty of what he did. His selfish desire backfired and cause people to get massacred. And then become their hero like he become hero of elves by doing similar things. No one will know that because of his actions people will get killed.
He will only understand when someone very close to him will get killed by his own actions. And I don’t think he is that smart to not become stupid like this in future, i already guessing that he again gonna do something like that.
he kinda did it, at the end of the fight when he saw the destruction, and he even had to use the skill cold heart when he went to the victim’s monument, he’s still kinda a douchebag, but not as big as to not reflect even a little bit
