Yup. Called it. Classic brainwashing tactic is to make the child think the safe person is NOT safe and the person manipulating them is. Then you just ramp up the ‘you are the specialest and this other child deserves nothing’ on top of ‘if your mother knew, she’d hate you’ because that makes her scared and gives her a feeling of being special that was ripped away once she found out what was really going on.
Like telling a kid she’s adopted and that once she hits eighteen she’ll be abandoned, by a close family friend she’d have no reason to disbelieve. Maybe she’d confront her parents, but maybe instead she’d become closer to the family friend, confide in her, cry to her.
And then all the family friend has to do is say something like ‘I’d take care of you after you turn eighteen, no problem. I’m your REAL family. And then the child has the grass is greener syndrome and doesn’t realize they’re being tricked and taken advantage of.
I do wish they expanded more on the fact that Catherine did use to love fl as her mother, especially the way she reacted when she found out that her father was cheating. Then she was manipulated by fake bsf of fl to think that she won’t be loved if she isn’t a noble lady. I don’t think she’s completely innocent either, she’s 15. But it would’ve given her character more nuance. It would also make sense as to why she would not like the woman who literally raised her because she thinks that she’ll abandon her anyway.
damn at such young age she beats her half sis this brutally?? good suffering better be 10x still FL can she hurry knowing her daughter’s condition was bad and how evil ppl around her are can’t she think how her daughter must be so annoying thet she’ll cry hard later but can’t think of that possibilty
