so the distant cousin of the princess is actually of a direct lineage to the throne, and of course the Princess knows that. My theory is that the Princess is playing match-maker, not only could her best friend and trusted Knight protect her dear cousin from the assassins, but with just a touch of mystery and secrets for them to unveil together or about each other, they’ll fall in-love and have their own happily ever after. I wonder if the Princess feels guilty about having found happiness in their first life together, while her knight/best friend remained alone to protect her? I can tottally see this mission as a match-making scheme, because the Princess could’ve tottally just warned her cousin of suspiciosusly hostile threats towards him that she’s overheard, and play the concerned and fearful cousin card for him to be wary of assassins as a nearer threat than they had been before. Maybe he’d even hire his own protection/guard. In conclusion I think this is a match making scheme the Princess came up with.
