I think the girls are dumb because it used to be assumed that they couldn’t hold a lot of knowledge in their minds and just had to be some form of pretty. At most she could direct in-house/ internal finances. If not it was left to the butler or housekeeper/governess. The thought was that if the king would be in love with the queen then the queen could ask for favors or favoritism for her family. So her upbringing would be most likely to be focused on her ability to charm. Like manners and etiquette, dance, charity, and on public opinion.
