I’d imagine the plan was to make the Marquis marry or something else irreversible before “letting go of the door” that or to take her key after they were panicking or being prosecuted. I’m excited to see what happened to the other “Saint” though. If the door example holds, the person who had the door ripped out of their hands would take more damage than the one forcing it open.

She knows there’s a barrier banning magic in the Imperial palace but she still puts pressure on Senyana to open the portal behind the Kings back so no shit, the backlash that Senyana–who’s forcing herself against a door that’s hard to open plus the barrier, would result in her putting her life at risk. I hope the Franciff family petitions a complaint against the Queen for conspiring against the Franciff family by forcing Senyana to proof her saint status without the King’s permission.
