Yeah, by modern-day standards Tatiana’s mother would be considered a scornful woman, but in this time period, what she did was quite reasonable. She chose a comfortable life for her daughters over one where they had to beg for meals everyday. In my opinion, that’s a pretty reasonable decision to make. She even approved of affairs after marriage if her husband is having one. I know this may sound bad, but it just sounds like her mother is looking out for her. Through marriage Tatiana and her sisters may not be able to gain love, but they’re able to achieve a comfortable life. And, if they’re allowed to have affairs, then that pretty much completes it. But, from Tiara’s perspective, that may not seem like enough for her. Since unlike her sisters, Tiara is pretty sheltered and hasn’t experienced what it’s like not being able to get what she’s wanted, and that includes love. I’m on Tatiana’s side, simply because the ML is hot and her cheating husband is not.
I can kinda see where the mom’s coming from. Sometimes your pride isn’t enough. But she’s forgotten the most important fact of being a mother: You went through hardships so your daughters DON’T have to.
