I’m still not a fan of her mother, like her past behaviour was still horrendous, even with motive. That being said I am glad to see her working on their side now.
I think that’s the point: she’s an anti-villain. She’ll play the role of the most horrendous villain without a shred of hesitation if it means (in her perception) protecting her children. Her intentions are “pure” but her methods are supposed to be… of dubious morality.
