This is so stupid. The plot is “the demons are bad and the temple is good” BUT when the slavers were selling the merman they said he’s lucky to not be sold to the temple like the rest of the slaves. So why is she too stupid to suspect the temple and tell him so they can investigate it??? If the Duke has enough power I’d pay people to spread rumors the temple is involved in human trafficking and use the rumors as an excuse to go check it out.
