This really puts into perspective what a harem is for royals/nobles. How it really is just a power play, and how dangerous it is to favour just one concubine. The problem was the overwhelming disadvantage women, the primary inhabitants of harems historically, faced in these games for the throne by just doing what they could for the sake of themselves and their families. Harem women were painted as catty, jealous and vindictive, when in reality men would have behaved just the same. ALL they had to do was balance the scale and complaints about unfairness would’ve diminished. #wasntthathard???♂️?♀️
