just because his sister died doesn’t give him the right to abandon the past ophelia like an asshole, knowing how she and his sister suffered bc of their birth. I hate this dumb ideology that people are allowed to be bad people bc they lost someone important. Honestly, he’s not even her enemy. He only becomes her enemy when she’s sold to him by her brother. It’s her brother who she needs to worry about. So getting close to him won’t really benefit her at all since she’s planning on becoming queen.
Anyways, unless he gets more interesting and less suspicious, I don’t see him as a male lead. And honestly, not to downplay anyone’s tragic experiences, but the og Ophelia had it much worse than the sister did. Abused and hated by father and stepmother and brother, loving mother dies, sold to a heartless a-hole who ignored then abandoned her, and left to die tragically; that’s pretty bad if i say so myself. There was no reason for cloud to treat ophelia like shit, even if he’s kind now.
Even though his sister died, the past Ophelia was even more similar to his sister so why did he treat her so terribly and become just like the people that maid his sister struggle? Maybe he abandoned her because she reminded him of his sister but thats not a real excuse if he actually loved his sister he wouldnt want anyone to suffer like she did?
Unless he blamed himself for his sister’s death. Either in the sense that we just heard her saying here like oh he’s kind but not because I’m his sister that’s just his default. If her death was suicide and he had some miscommunication Nth class suicide note he could literally be like I should have never involved myself in her life.
