Ehh… I’m not saying that the shrinks approach might not be effective but it kind of irks me how she just put herself as part of the family. Earlier when she lied and said that she loves her also did not feel quite right.
Depending on the psychiatrist, they will say they care or love a patient that has been traumatized in that way. It’s not really a flat out lie but it’s a way to show her that everyone cares for her well being and safety.
Um… it’s nice for you to voice your opinion but so was everyone else and they were trying to explain to you what the MC went through and why the author is trying to get readers to understand the trauma and how it affects the MC.
I understand what you are saying but the author isn’t trying to set her up to be “pitiful and stuff”, trauma affects people differently and in many different ways. In order to convey that, it is expected to show us how it affects her instead of just writing “she’s traumatized”.

Trauma can’t be healed with sweet talks and cuddles. It doesn’t go away that fast. The MC said a lot of people told her they weren’t going to take her power, but still took her power, so obviously she’d have trust issues ?
if she was abused like that every day for two years when she was to young to even know what the world was like outside of all that pain then you can be sure that she is gonna have trauma, leave her be and let her heal.

And the adults around her just abuse her, of course that would traumatize her, being beaten up and all— all she could do was to act submissive and low so that the perpetrators wont at least beat her up for ‘acting up’ and ‘fighting’
