I think it’s probably more likely he’s using it in the way the imperial “we” used to be used. Basically referring to yourself in the third person/plural to imply you are speaking not just as an individual, but as a figurehead. (normally to emphasize political power or ruling status)
That’s just my guess though lol, and it does sound goofy either way to read in English.
