I think ellua is actually clever enough actually. He managed to figure out that what kalmia has been wanting and what storoni, someone who shouldn’t typically have such leverage in the first place, had in order to manipulate kalmia. Heck, maybe the reason he did it in front of the dad was to declare that he doesn’t want the title of count so the father can’t claim she stole the keys from ellua.
