Can I just add that them knowing, snooping, and airing out to her her own personal affairs (like hellooo right to privacy anyone? is there no ethics committee here about snooping on random people’s lives??) even showing her husband after her disappearance to lowkey gaslight her into participating… yikes. Eye patch pisses me off. And like if they can, and know about affairs of people wouldn’t they know to prevent crime or some shit like didn’t her husband cause his previous wife to suicide or something. It’s just so weird they chose her with her random circumstances among all the other desperate people who aren’t married (coz hellooo how on earth will they get her outta that one?? it’s a valid political marriage??) or even just put one of their own or a paid actress and have them sign an oath of confidentiality. So much magic but they don’t have one that prevents you from talking about a matter? Or heck even just a confidentiality agreement would be enough for the most part. LMAO this story so full of holes
Lol same… the art is so gorgeous but I’m not too sure about the world-building and premise. So there’s magic and people love those televised dating shows… which only esteemed nobles can participate so they can have a fun time and meet their “true love”. I don’t understand either why Marianne was chosen again, and why they think the excuse of “changing appearances” would be enough. Since Marianne was a participant in the previous show, wouldn’t it mean viewers are already familiar with her personality and mannerisms? I also don’t understand the whole point of lying is permitted to hide your true identity, like isn’t that the whole point of the jewelry box? To find true love? How can you find true love when everyone is lying to each other and you don’t really know the person because their lying to keep their true identities secret like so far the only redeemable point is the art… which now I feel is a complete waste on this story
