Tbh can’t really blame her for her hesitation. She, for her whole life, never had an example of proper romantic love. Only proper love she experienced was familial thx to her mom although restrained. The other examples were instead things like obsession, possessiveness, cruelty, etc rather than actual love. Plus she has developed low self esteem since she sees herself as a lowly illegitimate child who is also the child of her loved one’s enemy while the duke is like a vision of perfection and what a noble should be. She see themselves as worlds apart and so feels she wouldn’t suit him and that he deserves better. It’s a saddening mindset but it does make sense
You should accept those feelings, and realised that you deserve to be happy.
Also, get rid of all those bastard who stands in your way and threat your beloved ones
