Idk if the emperor ever finds out about the book or even this moment, but it’s lowkey funny (also sad) that he became so desperate to become Phil’s father at some point, but never actually did anything that earned her trust enough for her to be herself around him again. Like Leguin and her brothers aside, Nasar at least went hard to regain her trust, enough for her to disclose plans and secrets to him. The Emperor basically tries to throw money at the problem (just like before) and his attempts to recreate childhood memories like eating together just forces her to recall her painful memories. My guy, you are not doing well.
