I will say this, the emperor in the first life (her reading the book) didn’t want nothing to do with her and on the second life he realizes she’s useful but still doesn’t really know her.
Her actual father is a clueless guy.. (But in the book) and even now still does the same thing which is helps her out her brothers also even though they kinda curious about her they still wanna be with her why can’t she see that and just let it go and be with them

I agree with OMGosh, maybe he loves her for now than her usefulness but he did initially love her because of her usefulness, all the effort she gave, and how incredibly giving she was. That’s not normal for a child.

He admits and acknowledges his past actions and says he’s sorry. The best part is that he made sure to say that she doesn’t have to forgive him if she doesn’t want to.
He’s genuinely trying and that really shows character development 🙌

He did not do his best the raise her but did so in spite of him knowing she was not his child. Talking it out will help them heal. Apologizing and trying to understand her view point will help them grow close. He can not erase the painful memories of her childhood that help her grow into the person she is today.
If someone is always hateful to you, you will form a bad impression of them. When you see them again, it would remind you of the pain you endured before. You would come to expect that to a normal interaction with them.
