She’s the daughter of his “first love” but she’s younger than all the children he’s had with his wife. I doubt he’d let her mother near his face a second time after she’d bewitched him. I think her father is probably someone else and he brought her into the family because of lingering feelings. What those feelings are? Who’s to say.
Also, I wish they had treated her like a person instead of a problem and explained things to her properly. Obviously she wants to please them. Her obsession could be redirected by giving her more avenues for affection. Instead, it was all left to fester as her basic needs went unfulfilled.
