Read manhwa My Villain Fiancé is Interfering With My Flowery Path / 흑막 약혼자가 내 꽃길을 방해한다
A fake saint born from a misinterpretation of trust. A swindler who deceived the empire. Abandoned by her family, she envied the real saint and committed all sorts of evil deeds before dying as a villain. That was my role in the original work.
After learning that I was reincarnated into a book, I made up my mind. I can’t live in this country anymore; it’s too filthy and dangerous. The only solution is exile!
In order to go into exile, I had to live innocently without any criminal charges. I aimed for a smooth path, just living as a good person. Without killing anyone, without envying anyone.
But something is strange. Despite not doing anything like that this time, news of accidents involving extras who used to mock me in the original work keeps coming in every day.

While it has some interesting worldbuilding, and engaging/witty plotlines as well as beautiful art to boot, the execution is so poor that the story is all over the place. Honestly it was a huge disappointment due to the fact that it had such great potential to be an outstanding story, but instead it’s… This mess. And what’s worse about it is how half assed the whole thing is. Motivations are weak for every single character, political aspects are never explored (period) nor are ethical dilemmas taken seriously enough to make sense. You can’t quite like or hate characters because their complexities are so poorly written that they come out as two dimensional or even straight out nonsensical at times. Plotlines are also thrown at you out of nowhere, and resolved either too quickly or too weirdly. FL is handed everything to succeed right out of the bat most times, despite it being brought up again and again how much she fought for and/or trained to obtain her abilities (yet that’s never shown or properly developed??). Everything hinges on public opinion (that is way too easily swayed for no proper reason) which makes zero sense, specially with FL being from such a powerful family and having such relevant connections in high society. It’s almost like the author or adapter of this story is allergic to understanding basic sociology or even common sense politics and instead use toddler level morality and middle school level ideas of being mean and a bully to build up drama.

For me this is a pretty interesting take on the fake saintess troupe. In all stories we see the fl being declared as a fake saintess, then gets executed for attempt of murder on the real one. And in most cases it is revealed that the real one was always evil, so our fl fight the bad saintess and marries the crown prince. Happy ending.
Well this story is different. Here the saintess is a good one and the orginal crown prince is a bad guy regardless of the timeline but not an “evil guy”. Now our fl wants to leave the country and live as a magician since she has magic but no divine powers. Now her fiance duke is the antagonist and the protagonist itself. He is a yandere character who loves fl so much that he wants to eliminate anything that’s in her way. The story pretty much revolves around the duke who is commiting murders to help reinstate the title of saintess to our fl and our fl trying to find the culprit behind the murders without knowing it is her fiance. So far the fl’s character is quite bold and interesting. The ml “the crazy murderer duke” is not entirely evil of you consider his acts as yandere love. He never forces his love on her. It’s more like a silent war. I’ll sacrifice myself amd my honour to give you the best in the world. The problem is this idiotic ml doesn’t know that the fl isn’t interested in any of these things and all she wants is to run away.

I don’t like the ml lol
Let me explain.
In many manhwas there is this tendency to blur the lines of good and evil, which I admit I am uncomfortable with, yet I still enjoy them if they are well written. Murder however is always evil.
And guess what the ml did.
Other than that I enjoyed the story, art was good, story was good, tl was decent, but making good guys into bad ones and bad guys into good ones based soley on perspective, like thats going to erase the fact that bad guys did something bad is not a trope I enjoy I have found. This review does sound a bit negative, but I really did enjoy the story, just not the moral blending bit.

This is a fun twist on the fake Saint trope with a yandere golden retriever fiance trying to protect the FL.
And it’s refreshing that the New Saint isn’t a bitch but a super Stan for for FL.
