I think the reason why the grandfather supports Thisbe in this timeline is because she did her best to maintain some of her dignity and honour despite the backlash of being labelled as a “fake saintess”. She committed no crimes and the grandfather saw through the hurt she was going through. He may not have shown Thisbe much or any kindness in the past, but he’s still willing to protect her in his own way, even going as far as to remain firm in keeping Thisbe as the legitimate heir—I can respect that👏
