I think the translator mixed up “duchess” with “countess” in this chapter. Meaning that the step-mother is title got confused w peri’s title, so the step mother was the last one to see peris dad, and probably poisoned him.
So basically the fl stepmom let fl’s father die so his assets to be transferred to her name instead of the fl, hence the lengthy conversations before his death but the father died leaving all he has to fl. Telling us he didn’t budge from all the talks they had the step mom didn’t like it. With out him as the head of the family renouncing fl’s inheritance all the bitch could do was make do, resorting to what we had all witness in the previous timeline of fl poisoning her with the blood from the dukes bloodline.. That bi*ch deserve all torture known to man kind
