Now hopefully they can be absolutely sure that there’s no way shitbag can escape. I’m digging the dynamics of this family. It’s so obvious the Duke was put in a position that wasn’t intended for him while Sercia and his Godmother know how to take the reigns and handle the family issues. He even seems apathetic about the tension between the imperials and him. Sercia seems like she wouldn’t put up with it at all. That doesn’t mean he’s incapable of the role, but that their are people who suit the role around him as well.

she was treated like that because she was illegitimate. Since half the family are doctors they check on each other to make sure blood isn’t spilt and could kill innocent people. Since she is Illegitimate aka outside of a marriage she isn’t on the family registry and technically doesn’t exist since the dad thinks the family should be selling their blood because it’s so toxic and untraceable as poison.
It’s not like they treat their illegitimate family like that normally the dad was gonna find a way to sell their blood and the little girl was unfortunately the perfect source to avoid the eyes of the family heads.
