I agree with the comment below, MC is being stupid and arrogant. Also, she’s usually very sharp but didn’t noticed anything when the 4th prince was clearly suffering and having the response of someone who’s being abused. She should expect something violent from the imperial family since she went through the same and she knows of the emperor’s intentions. Instead, she’s being dumb on purpose.
