“send her to a temple” lmfao reminds me when my father sent me to my super religious godparents so they could cure my autism by performing an exorcism (It did not work)

The “treatment” she mentioned was probably less like what we’d see today, an educated professional for social disorders and struggles, and probably more like one of those church “pray the gay and badness out of you”

Uh considering the time period that “treatment” was probably synonymous with torture.
Also, an understanding family willing to put in some effort is leagues better than clinical doctors forcing you to suffer to “fix” you and make you “normal”. That’s true even now. Most “therapies” aren’t for the kid’s benefit but to make their behaviour more palpable for their parents, regardless of how miserable it makes the child.

I’m glad they stopped arguing in front of the kids (and everyone else tbh) There has to be a better way to get the information across, even just a scene with the adults talking it out while the kids are in bed. And the mother may love her emotionless child and know the reason why she’s like that but this reminds me of kids that go undiagnosed because their parents refused to believe something was wrong with them. And then they end up miserable with undiagnosed autism they don’t get proper treatment for until they’re almost adults. At least Claire learned emotions probably because she’s part demi god but a normal kid would have to go to the temple. Kind of shocking they actually have a proposed “treatment” for mental disorders in a 1600s royal settings story too
