For everyone who wonders who the “Ex” is: @CherryTaa explained it well already. It’s the exact same guy that the female lead first marries, which is shown in the earlier chapters, but then runs away from (no isekai or regression though!).
Sure, the female lead is dumb as a bucket of shrimp; she “sacrifices” herself with this marriage for the sake of her family that obviously despises her, offers her arm to bite down on it (!) to the male lead who’s in a cell – and then later doesn’t even recognize the one and same guy from his voice and his iconic rudeness.
However, the male lead is even worse – he initially behaves like a 4-years-old in his defiant age and throws killing threats around without reason (later on this is “explained” as him losing his humanity bit by bit, but then why is he sent to battle then if he can become a danger to everyone anytime through his curse, which would include his own comrades?).
This same male lead who is described by side-characters as “cool” and arrogant, is also dumb as bread – he’s secretly manipulated by his super obviously evil uncle’s side of the family (at least one original idea, as we see two of these men sacrificing blood in order to strengthen the curse of the ml).
All the many servants of this duke are also completely brainless; they leave the female lead all alone for a stroll in the woods, didn’t explain to the female lead that there’s an unguarded (!) and non-signposted building in the wood she is not allowed in, and they totally don’t care that she continues to go there carrying all kinds of stuff for days…
The male lead puts himself in chains in a cell in the woods because of pain attacks (!) from the curse and because it’s said that he loses humanity; but is left all alone there for no reason – and then still hurts himself. However, he can seemingly still talk human language and doesn’t throw violent fits, so why is a duke even locked away in a cold stone cell (!) without so much as a bed then?
He cannot for his life communicate normally with anyone, including his wife; he irrationally spouts threats, causes misunderstandings, and seems to be really bad at s*x too. I absoluty cannot understand why anyone would create a male lead like him, he’s 100% undesirable.
The very first plot hole is that marriage itself (even long before the goddess-statue comes into sight). There is absolutely no reason for this marriage! The female lead might be searching for someone rich to “save” her lying family, but the male lead himself does not need or want a wife initially, while his manipulating relatives find her “useless” and even want her dead!?
The author connects the main couple that didn’t even want to marry (after two weeks that the fl already spent with duchess-training in the duke’s “palace”) by the old super-boring trope of the female lead’s touch having soothing powers over the curse of the male lead, plus another related trope later on again: the male lead recognizes her by instinct “somehow” even when she’s in magic disguise… There’s so little logic in this whole story that I can totally understand why people would think it’s written by an AI 😀

Wife ran away after hearing uncles talking about discarding her for Charles Baker, the male lead.
Female interprets that as Ml not wanting her, and would eventually kill her.
A statue drew her attention, striking a deal with her. Diety is trapped in the statue by Baker family and wants freedom. Statue can fake her deal with magic in agreement to hunt for heart shards that the diety needs to be free.
Uncles took some of the poison after poisoning her so as to not look suspicious to male lead.
Male lead returns and find uncles unconscious and Leah dead.
How do you so willing strike a deal with a trapped diety when obviously it was trapped for a reason? She doesn’t think. She’s clumsy. She doesn’t have a backbone. She’s annoying. No personality.

I have so many complaints –
Tops ones are that the runaway wife plot is done to death but this one is extra badly written.
Somehow the female lead makes a deal with a random disembodied voice to fake her own death after some random men tell her her husband wants her dead. No sign this is true. Just their word.
Her disguise is just changing her name and moving in with relatives. Don’t even change her hair color or clothing styles. Like is she even trying?? She somehow thinks her husband won’t recognize her if she just uses another name??
Also the sex scenes are pathetic. He just kisses her and sticks it in. I pity this author if that’s the only sex they’ve had.
I’m actually hoping this is AI written, its so bad.

Hmm there’s no plot the FL has no personality 🤔 shes just there. He family is her motivation but they suck and she can’t see it, but to be fair she can’t see most glaringly obvious things for no reason besides she’s stupid. She crazy nice but lacks common sense. The ML is cursed but apparently not a vampire. His curse causes pain and that makes him irritable and violent. Everyone is scared because he has zero emotional regulation, and the curse gets all the blame dude doesn’t try to be a decent guy. His family is old and extremely wealthy he is very stronge and a warrior but for some reason they have little to no political influence? There are alot of plot holes. The art is ok 2/5 and I only read up to chapter 6.

Title seems off. How is he her ex if they’re meeting for the first time? It’s an arranged marriage to help her family financially. I like that he’s ruthless. I hope he doesn’t change.
Hes cursed and endures pain, being with her and biting her hand helps sooth him.
