Exactly!! He abused her, and his sad past doesn’t justify his actions.

You gotta be kidding me!? Sad past!? I get it—his past doesn’t justify his actions, but let’s not ignore that trauma shapes people. He didn’t hurt Annette just for fun; his warped perception of love came from years of war, betrayal, and isolation. That doesn’t make it right, but it makes it human.

The real question isn’t whether his past excuses him (it doesn’t)—it’s whether he’s capable of change. If he refuses to grow, then no, he doesn’t deserve her. But if he truly regrets his actions and works to be better, why shouldn’t he have a chance at redemption? If we deny that people can change, what’s the point of character development at all?

idk when I read novel I cried at this part but now I don’t feel anything. Novel ‘s description was more emotional. I think artist cut some scenes about Heiner’s part . Or maybe he will tell her by himself later. I am comfusing. But I remember the murmuring part. He was calling her name He was trying to bear it, thinking that she would cry for him. He was beaten almost to death. They even write ” I’m a rent boy of Padania ” on his chest with a hot iron And that’s why he never showed his body to her but he missunderstand. And when finally he was free. Unfortunately his angel didn’t care about his pains. So he started to feel hatred and love at the same time but his disappointment and hatred won over his heart. I understand him so much he suffered a lot. Both of them suffered. He treated her like she wasn’t human. But she didn’t know anything what she did. They were both wrong but I think Heiner was more wrong he was thinking her like she is saintess. And whe he relized she isn’t like that he feeled hatred. How can she imagine how much you suffered ? She was just a teenager who feels her first love.

Doesn’t justify anything. He was still a complete asshole to her. He ruined her mentally.

I’m so happy she learnt about heinier’s past, not to blame herself but to understand about his feelings and pains and the reason he was so mean to her. Now she can sort out the puzzles in her mind better. Awhh, I just want to hug both of them and say every thing is gonna be okay…

Wow it’s funny how we put the blame on one person let me guess just got up one morning and said hey I’m going to make somebody life miserable weather it is reality or fiction something we face everyday we fight so hard for countries pay backe we gotten nothing like we deserve time to start questioning ourselves who and what are we fighting for her father is to blame for this chaos he caused but ppl saying ml should be at fault here does he have power to start a war freaking stupidity of ppl get me arrogant misguided jackass’s I’m so fuming right now

Two wrongs don’t make a right, and not talking about things don’t make them magically disappear. Though, I hate the part where the author is trying to guilt-trip Anette (FL), since Heiner was as much to blame, but maybe we will see later on how things equalize. But nice story writing. Both this one and “the redemption of Earl Nottingham” are delving into some very heavy topics, and portraying them in such a nice and realistic way is very difficult. Kudos to the author,

I know most ppl still would blame the ml, but after all what he did was for his county

Anney Rosenberg, I really liked her character development. The way she started to show interest in her surrounding, when she divorced him. I’m not blaming anyone. And I don’t think that both the ml & fl are victim or anything.

What happend to anette’s father was what he deserved. And there’s more to the story.

I would suggest ppl to not judge the ml, just because he didn’t try to communicate or showing affection. I think a person would not be the same if they went through the same situation as heiner.

I’m not trying to defend the ml. It’s just my openion.

This ch. is trying to put a lot of blame to FL when she is not the one that’s to be blamed.

Also, was Annette supposed to cry when ML said his comrades died in the operation? (We usually say something like, “Thank you for your service” because it’s the polite thing to say.)
And it was literally their first meeting. Was she supposed to understand everything that happened in ML’s life just by talking with him for 1 minute? She’s not a mind reader.
Heiner never tried to talk about his past. It wasn’t Annette’s job to start asking first.

ML could have tried to communicate, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    But he didn’t try.

I don’t see why Annette should feel guilty about this issue. ML killed her parents, then ignored her, emotionally abused her, and refused to listen to anything she said.

I’m glad they talked about these issues.

Being a man doesn’t make life less painful. When circumstances arise, both men and women go through their own painful journeys.
