Yeah, Heiner didn’t get her at all. At that point he was just lashing out because he was assuming things. Meanwhile, from Annette’s perspective he was a very special existence for her. By then, I’m sure he could have told her the truth and she would understand and be able to think for herself outside of her father.

Welp she does finds happiness but with Heiner only it may sound absurd however when u read the whole novel its the best ending for both of them i don’t think so they would have survived alone they both needed each other and yes they remarry again when heiner resigns and live in a coastal town :DD

I love the broken Male lead to whom is sadistic and amazing.
I love the female lead, who is shattered and scattered, fated to be put back together by the male lead.
And I love the author’s writing style, letting me be in the story, and letting me be broken as well.

It seems like he really struggles to understand his own feelings. What i see is that he loves her the best way he knows how but he also doesnt think he deserves her. He wants to treasure her but destroy her at the same time. He also doesnt seem to believe she truly loves him either. He resents her for having an easy life and having all she could ever have, whereas hes had to struggle & suffer. I wanna read the novel when this is finished.
Yes, the ML is a pile of trash pile from a “human” point of view; he helped his country, but he is not a good person, and does not deserve all the respect they give him! In the end he helped the country mainly to get revenge….
