Nope. I think this is so dumb. I fully side with the commoner’s need to overthrow the monarchy. Her father was evil and he deserved what he got. But I firmly do not believe in people being tainted by the sin of being related to someone. If we should judge people of the their own merit and it shouldn’t matter who their parents are when it comes to things like job positions, our leaders etc then the same should remain true when someone has the misfortune of being related to a monster. She doesn’t deserve this because of her upbringing. The same way someone who is born from nothing does not deserve to be stepped on their whole lives simply because of the circumstances of their birth.
ok, I just cant get behind blaming all the wrongs in the world on a person who did not even commit the crime. The brother was a revolutionary that did break the law. Was the punishment harsh? well, technically it was treason so no. Even so, the grudge would be against her father & they ended him so their hate is misplaced. Also, the woman knows her other brother caused a miscarriage but she shows up pregnant & tells this story for no reason but to be cruel & act like the fl has no right to seek justice for the murder of her baby.
“Is it a sin to be ignorant?” That’s really what all this is about.
It’s good that she’s beginning to actually make sense of things, and not just “respecting” the cause. Now she’s being provided with reasons, she’s being pulled out of the ignorance and she’s willing to do something. She must face the music and actually understand these people, not just the bigger picture (AKA the systematic revolt). The pain lies in the details.
Technically, she should’ve been mad at the woman, too, as she is the sister of the one who killed her unborn child. But she didn’t, because she knows what it feels to be blamed for the blood in her veins. She realized that the way she was nurtured has resulted in her ignorance, she was sheltered. It wasn’t her fault, and yet she pays for it. She doesn’t deserve it, because she was a child who was not taught better, but in the commoner’s eyes, she is nothing but an accomplice, a benefactor in their expense.
“Don’t apologize to me” he says, “What are you even apologizing for?” He says. But he will still be making her pay for things she did not know of, he recognizes that she has little to nothing to apologize for and is still acting as if she deserves this treatment.
I really hate this guy, no matter how sad his backstory was, he did not deserve the ‘happy ending’ he got in the novel
Seriously it’s that all what the heck at least extend the chapter its irritating and exciting at the same time ,I don’t know who to say it ,frustrating
