I’m beginning to think people just hate FLs that aren’t immediate “girl bosses” or whatever.
FL obviously has some serious self esteem issues that stem from her abusive upbringing but it’s become so normalized to her that she quite literally cannot normally empathize with the feelings of the people around her. It’s really sad. Her ideology about her worth and how beneficial a marriage would be between her and Shelby seems like a cruel byproduct of the treatment she received from her bio family, who were willing to marry her—a 9 year old— to a grown man in order to elevate their status/wealth. They only saw her as a tool and treated her as such.
Sure she’s actually an adult in the body of a child, and she ended up with a way better family in the end, but i can’t help but believe that being raised for so long in such an environment didn’t stunt her emotionally in some way. Especially since it seems these traumas were never properly addressed.
Whether or not it’s written WELL is another beast entirely, but the blatant FL hate in the comments these past few chapters kind of irks me.

I agree she is not obligated to accept his proposal just because he like her, but her lack of awareness of how she talks about herself without explaining her problems and why she thinks that, will only lead to suffering to the people that love and care about her🤦🏻♀️ this part of the fl is really fucking infuriating, ffs she needs to learn to communicate
I guess anyone who’s got a conscience would think twice in a world that only cares about social statuses. You > no status and receiving charity from his family. Does that ring a bell? Not like everyone’s thick faced and don’t give a shit to their/the partner image. Plus did you ever think if she actually loves him? Accepting a marriage proposal just bc she’s thankful would be the same as a marriage of convenience

Extremely self-absorbed and single-minded to the point she misses everything else thats happening around her.
One wouldn’t call such a person ‘smart’ anymore but painfully dumb.
She isn’t even aware how rude, ungrateful and even cruel she is being right now!!
That’s the result of one being overly and excessively self-reliant and ultimately contracting ‘distorted perception’. One reaches a point where s/he sees and understands everything solely based on his/her own assumptions vs. the reality.
