Sure, people – especially women – had to plan their lives and were often hoping to find a good partner, but… bloodlines? Like in those Victorian fantasy stories where the status of nobles is super important, bastards are treated like servants and nobles can abuse or even kill commoners without any consequences? That’s just fiction.
