I really don’t get why the ML is so scared of his mother of all people. His father was a more prominent abuser and now that he’s dying, killing off his mother shouldn’t be a problem…. it’s also not like he has siblings either, he’s the SOLE heir to the dukedom. Not even the mother has any claim to that wealth!! STAND UP YOU IDIOT
Haiz,ml wanted to take everything so that he can live with Emilia and that his mf mother can no longer hinder the path of their happiness. He is a spineless dude that cannot protect the woman he really loves. Their status also adds salt to the wound. The king favors Emilia? It’s more of a curse rather than a favor. Hope after the separation,the king will give her alimony and send her together with her family to a far away kingdom that even that duke can never find her. But I know that none of these will happen since the author already wrote happy – gilly ending for the two of them
Also, another rant here, but I utterly hate the fact that the FL is a commoner. In anything the ML says or does, she has no power. The only thing going for her is that the king favors her, but even he is apparently too incompetent to fully protect her. I don’t know if I’ll finish this due to the power dynamic, but I really wanna see how ya’ll react to the SA scene so I’ll be here until then.
I understand the ML’s motivation, but I can’t help but think he’s useless. Does his mother have so much power to the point he has no say in who he marries? If so, why haven’t we’ve seen anything that shows the mother’s authority so far? It’s obvious she’s purposefully making her husband sick, but they’re acting like she’s some mastermind lol Just kill her, disguise it as an accident, and take over the family name Myer. And if there’s supposed to be a bigger side to this political battle, I’d rather see that than the two main leads boringly interact.
even if they do make a contract saying that she can stay if they have bought all the surrounding land they can just box her in until her family gives up and leave. well first they’d have to beg to be let out or they’d be trespassing on the dukes land as commoners so they’d probably get punished by that evil mother
