This is this speculation obviously but considering that her family doesn’t want to let get married even through they clearly don’t treat her well and her in laws are giving so many benefits seems to me like there’s something else going on other than the fact that she’s “dying”. So if they had proposed earlier the parents might have rejected it and then done something to keep her away maybe and she was young so she couldn’t have done anything. Of course they seem powerful and said if they don’t release her they would destroy them but it’s possible they didn’t have that level of power when she was younger. So maybe now that’s she’s an adult they chose a time when it would be easier to get her with less issues.
