Honestly, I think they’re both terrible.
Bothering your wife at work when she’s said she doesn’t want you to shows a severe lack of respect. Same with all the other boundaries he’s crossed since the story began.
Let’s not forget: He threatened to take her son away (why she bothered marrying him in the first place). Is constantly taunting the empress despite knowing it’ll be taken out on her (including incredibly petty stuff like the tea).
If this story just had her falling out of love with him or moving on rather than this convoluted assassination stuff he’d be, without a doubt, the villain. He’s just as bad as the empress with forcing his affections on her.
