Its already somewhat predictable whats to come next..
The high priestess could be in love with the knight and therefore unable to ascend.
However, now that the central power has decided to get rid of the order by first dismantling its order of the knights who act as its shield, the high priestess decides to ascend–or probably die. She could also be killed by the CP or his men, since they are determined to get rid of them.
And so, her soul who longs for the knight would then possess the body of the princess the knight has been forcefully assigned to.
I thought they both would die and reincarnate at first, but when the CP showed up the scenario took a turn for the worse.

@AArtsy I also thought it’d be a reincarnation story at first and that the high priest or the five “priests” would fake an ascension.
