Though Curtis did her a modicum of control on the relationship he basically pressured her into all this, and all DeBois bad impressions weren’t only optics, Curtis don’t really see Chloe as a person, he sees her as something to be used and then discarded. He’s only ever shown concern for the awful position he put her in probably because he feels guilty, and thus came up with that lame “use me too”, as if their standing were anythinf equal enough for that ro be true. He was later called out by the prince himself, like… he’s a ruthless man, I’m having trouble having any empathy
@HoneyToast so true… most 2nd MLS when they go through this trope express how jealous they are or something (and though he might be too), the first thought that comes in his mind is concern for her mental well being and I love that. I’m lowkey getting 2nd ml syndrome.
I’m not sure Dubois is the second ML; I think his concern comes more as a friend than a romantic interest. He cares that his friend is loved and respected, and that she is happy. He is also sad because she hid her relationship from him, making him feel isolated.
