BookObsession
Well, I finished it. The story wasn’t spectacular. There are a lot of “a few days later” time skips. There are quite a few misunderstandings and moments when, if the right questions had been answered or the right people had been trusted instead of beheaded right in the middle of a party, when so many things could have been prevented. And instead of being outright executed, the opinions of others, who clearly have ulterior motives, ensures one issue comes back, albeit for only a short time.
When a child goes missing, instead of immediately going and searching for the child or even investigating it, they just immediately assume the child is dead, like there is no chance at all that they will be alive. And that goes on for roughly a month [it’s hard to tell because, again, a lot of “a few days later” timeskips].
When it comes to the art, it’s pretty, I can’t argue with that. But the expressions really only show in their chibi forms. Otherwise, the eyes don’t really change much. There’s a moment when the characters are sitting around and are given surprising information and while their mouths hang open a bit, they don’t look surprised. They look more like Surprised Pikachu, their eyes showing no emotion. Pretty eyes mean nothing if there’s no emotion in them. And don’t get me started on the outfits. The FL’s father wears a lot of robes and when he becomes bedridden, rather than giving him lighter clothes to rest in, he is kept in his robes, which just comes off as lazy when the FL’s outfits change often. And only her clothes change. Everyone else wears the same thing in almost every scene, even other women. A couple change every now and then but for the most part, everyone wears the same clothes except for FL. The ML at least goes between his armor and just pants. I understand designing clothes for a “barbarian” tribe might be limiting, but if they have fabric and dyes in multiple colors, then there shouldn’t be the same thing for every single person.
I’d recommend it if you don’t mind a story that doesn’t make sense most of the time. It’s cute but kind of annoying in a lot of areas. It’s definitely not a mature story. What I mean is that this story is clearly geared toward people below my age, very YA like storytelling.
