Surely chloroforming a less than a year old baby is dangerous to the baby, right? Why couldn’t the kidnapper just be like “hey, kid, why don’t you take a break since you’re tired enough to sleep while the baby is up? I’ll take on your shift for ya” (since I imagine they’d have at least two maids to cycle through shifts to watch the baby at all hours) and then kidnap once the maid is away so no one hears any noise unless guards are right outside the door.
