Regardless of how you feel about him, I feel like this misunderstanding is pretty reasonable. Given the butler’s suggestion, he’d probably be looking for signs that she might be into him. Then she comes out with “Saying it out loud is a bit embarrassing.” I’d misunderstand the same way tbh.
He is such a red flag. He is dumb enough to think it’s a good idea to get involved with what he believes is a crazy fan and is narcissistic enough to believe that the only concievable reason is for her to be in love with him
