‘haiz’ does mean ‘sigh’, kind of like ‘aigo’ or ‘omo’ which are normal Korean expressions.
Frankly, I like them better then their English counterparts…

so i dont understand any korean at all but after reading a few manhwa’s im getting the vibe that ‘haiz’ means ‘sigh’ and lowkey… not sure why that isn’t translated as ‘sigh’? lol i could be wrong tho but it’s always brought up in a ‘sigh’ type context. i get why keeping honorifics and terms of endearment in korean would make sense (while oppa and noona do mean bro and sis the context is dif, and nim seems closest to mr/mrs but not quite so i get keeping nim the same) but i dont really get why ‘haiz’ is kept in korean. is there a context to the word that im not understanding? like i said, i really dont understand korean, everything ive stated thus far is just stuff i picked up from context so im prolly totally out of my depth lmao
also this is 100% not a critique of the translators lol, you guys work hard and however you choose to translate aint my business, im just kinda curious cuz it struck me as strange

에휴 : e-hyu (the one that being translate as ‘haiz’) direct translate to ‘uhh’ which basically just the sound you make when you sigh. Maybe the translators thing ‘uhh’ sounds a bit weird so they change it to ‘haiz’ instead which is also one of signing noise
