It’s not incest. It’s a cultural thing in Asia. In Japan, it should be “Onee-san” or “Onii-san”. In Korea, as Heypakas said, it’s “Unnie” or “Oppa”. While for Philippines, it’s “Ate” or “Kuya”.
Altogether, it just translates to Brother and Sister but doesn’t necessarily mean they’re blood related. You call either friends or relatives with those terms or even address them formally to people you’re not close to as a form of respect.

@MiscMech well, in this case, it wasn’t a translation where they translated a term for older male/female as brother/sister, it literally means brother/sister in the original language. It’s a cultural difference, not a translation error. Although I agree, the connotations are vastly different and they should’ve gone about it differently.

It’s np 👍. I would’ve probably reacted the same way if i hadn’t known the context as well. Some translators decide to leave it just as oppa/hyung or nuna/unnie which I think is better, since it’s hard to divorce “brother/sister” from the connotation that they’re family.

Pretty sure it’s not incest and instead a translation error. A lot of times, in eastern media, they translate a term for older male/female friends/acquaintances as “big brother/big sister. I’m surprised you haven’t come across this before. They both have completely different names.
